Onecard : Insights on Demand
Progressive Enterprises needed insights on demand, enabling them to respond at short notice to changing consumer behaviour.
Progressive Enterprises' Onecard supermarket loyalty programme represents one of the largest databases in New Zealand, spanning a huge dataset on nearly 50% of the population, tracking over 65% of the national grocery spend across three brands.
It's a key strategic asset with potential to provide customer insights into opportunities for growth, the channels customers engage with and motivations for shopping.
However, the size of this dataset and the success of the Onecard programme was also its Achilles heel. While it provided business insights, these were not in a ready-published form.
The Solution
From a mammoth base of more than 4 billion rows of transactional data each month, which feeds into 81 analytical models and generates more than 45,000 SKU's, Progressive management can now produce secure reports on their desktops that take between five and 60 seconds - an industry first.

Drilling deeper, users can also slice and dice each report by combinations of stores, store brands, week, financial periods, years, and trading departments. Key trend reports can be dynamically generated using flexible start and end dates to enable the impact of any activity - marketing, competitor or environmental - to be quickly assessed against all key customer and store metrics.
The Results
Insights on Demand assisted the development of new communications activity, audience targeting and offer selection, and provided input into higher level business and marketing planning.
Key stakeholders in the business can now put their fingers directly on the pulse of consumer behaviour.
